You spend most of your time at work, which consumes all your energy, and you spend more time with your colleagues than with your own family. Is your day to day like this? And, most importantly, are you happy with what you do?
If the answer is “no”, perhaps the time has come to honestly and objectively reflect on the pros and cons of your current situation. Here are 7 signs that will help you determine if it’s time for you to change jobs:
1. You are tired and stressed
Do you drag yourself to work every morning, and do you lack the drive that you used to have? Do you sleep less and notice that your mood worsens every time you think about your job?
Any of these signs could be a symptom of rising stress levels, which can affect both your mood and your immune system, making you more susceptible to colds and bad moods, significantly impairing your work performance.
2. You are bored
Lack of professional and personal development, and not being able to enhance your skills and abilities can be reasons for being bored at work. If you don’t have new professional challenges, you are not passionate about your work and you can’t start new projects, it is normal to feel unmotivated.
3. You feel invisible
Do you feel that your opinions and contributions are not recognized? That you don’t get a promotion despite your constant effort? Are the relationships within your team not as cordial or collaborative as they used to be?
If you spend a large part of your time working in a team, it is vital that you feel like a valued member of the team and that the atmosphere is friendly, productive and encouraging. If you have already done everything possible to improve the dynamic, but you still don’t feel recognized or part of a team, then it may be time to find a new project in which you can make a difference.
4. You only see the negative side
Analyze your work and weigh up what it gives you and what it takes away from you. Perhaps you see that there is an excess of work, stress, pressure, exhaustion, constant fatigue, dissatisfaction on one side …
But what is on the positive side? If you don’t find the same quantity and quality of positive things, then it’s highly likely that it’s time to change jobs.
5. You only work for money
Most people seek to feel fulfilled in their work. This not only helps them make ends meet, but it is also another opportunity to be happy. However, if in your case the only thing that makes you go to work every day is the payment that you will receive at the end of the month, you should think about whether what you are doing is right.
6. You have no opportunity to develop your career
Look into the future. Are you excited about what is to come? Or do you see dull, gray movement in the wrong direction? Feeling stuck in a job is equivalent to recognizing that your work experience has been going on for a long time without bringing you anything new, that your career strategy has reached a dead end.
7. You don’t believe in the company like you used to
When you started, your position seemed full of possibilities and you felt very proud to identify with the company culture. However, you have recently noticed that your perception of the company is no longer what it used to be, and that your confidence in the project and in the company’s values has decreased.
The lack of shared values, professional alignment, identification with the company or loss of trust are powerful demotivating factors that are difficult to reduce. If you see yourself reflected in them, maybe it’s time to find a new challenge in a new company in which you can believe.
These signs, although they seem obvious at first glance, can still give you an answer to a very important question: are you in the right place? By answering it, you can decide for yourself whether you should leave everything as it is or change your life for the better.
